Barbaresco, La Ca' Növa 2014

La Cà Nova

Barbaresco always takes us back to our honeymoon. Our first stop was Umbria, the second was a hotel on the border of Umbria / Tuscany and this was a bottle we shared. Always choosing Barolo over Barbaresco, this changed my opinion. I love the Nebbiolo grape, I am a big fan of its strong tannins, high acidity and distinctive scent and the redish / orange colour that comes with a good example.

This 2014 Barbaresco from La Ca' Nova is a perfect example at an excellent,  price its. The 2014 vintage offers a light, but a graciously balanced example of  Barbaresco.

Production area
The Ca 'Nova is a small artisan winery that has been producing wine for about 40 years in Barbaresco, a village whose ancient medieval tower is the symbol of one of the pulsating hearts of Piedmontese oenology.

Varieties
100% Nebbiolo

Description
Starting with a garnet red colour; The nose starts with a complex bouquet, offering fruity aromas of raspberry jam and blackberry along with the usual Nebbiolo aromas of liquorice and tobacco. In the mouth, it is full-bodied and structured, with a soft tannin.

Food Pairings
Beef stew and beef brisket, meaty ragu or red risotto. Also works with creamy and blue cheeses
