Chardonnay, Trefethen Family Vineyards 2020

Trefethen Estate

Tasted on our visit to Trefethen vineyards. This is a great example of a Californian Chardonnay, you can taste the warm Napa breeze. Its richer and fuller bodied that old world, this is a great wine to serve both summer and winter.

Wine Enthusiast 91/100

Production area
Planted in gravelly soils in the northwestern quadrant of the stunning Trefethen estate vineyards, Located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. These well-drained soils combined with limited yields produce Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with bright and complex flavours.

100% Chardonnay

The nose opens with bursts of green apple, toasted brioche, honeysuckle and lemon cream pie. The palate is full yet bright, offering a pleasant viscosity and subtle notes of clove and tropical fruit. The clean finish adds an exclamation point with elegance.

Food Pairings

The perfect balance of body and acidity makes this an ideal food wine. Recipe ingredients which complement the wine are almonds, hazelnuts, tarragon, lime zest and lemon thyme. Restrained use of mild mustard is also a good match. Serve with seafood or lighter meats.
