Deutz Champagne was recommended to us back in 2012, while visiting Reims. Now owned by the famous Roederer family. But was originally founded in 1838 in Aÿ by two Prussians, one being William Deutz, who was a wine merchant the other who specialised in champagne. The two trained in the industry taking care the entire process of champagne making from bottling, disgorging, dosage and labeling before owning their own label and champagne house. While working for others they slowly mapped out what is now deutz vineyards, by purchasing some of the best terroirs in Champagne.
